The human predicament, absurdism, and nihilism are some of the playwright’s key themes in Waiting for Godot. Man is represented as an isolated entity who is lost and devoid of a sense of purpose, worth, and reality. The state of being human: The emptiness of Vladimir and Estragon’s life exemplifies the extent to which people rely on delusion, such as religion, according to Beckett, to offer hope to a pointless existence. The play’s characters are waiting for him to save them from their agony and suffering or from their dismal lives. Godot stands for anything heavenly or divine. He is the “earthly ideal of a better social order.” Godot, which also means death or quiet and stands for the unreachable ego. Pessimism and the absence of faith have an impact on the human nature. The people may depart or not, and Godot could arrive or not, emphasizing how unpredictable life is. The painting portrays man’s loss and helplessness symbolically. We sit helplessly while people lose trust in God, society, moral principles, and ourselves. Nothing seems to matter. Since we are excitedly waiting for nothing and nothing will actually happen, Waiting for Godot represents the meaninglessness, frivolity, and emptiness of our times.
